History
The Charity Club was started over 70 years ago, established in May of 1952. Originally our title was the Wednesday Charity Club, but today we are known as Ladies of Houston Charity. Because of our decade of good deeds, we have also been coined the Band of Angels.

In the beginning, there were 16 Precious Angels among the Charter Members:
Mrs. Billy Jean Joseph Ameen
Mrs. Tafita Silman Ameen
Mrs. Geraldine Farha Antone
Mrs. Mary Murr Baker
Mrs. Rose Doumany Bashara
Mrs. Wadeha Younis Bashara
Mrs. Irene Mafrige Chahin
Mrs. Margaret Balagia Curry
Mrs. Victoria David
Mrs. Edna Murr Jamail
Mrs. Emily Khaled Jamail
Mrs. Marie Farris Mafrige
Mrs. Phyllis Pinto Maniha
Mrs. Mabel Ameen Philips
Mrs. Eugenia Jamail Swyden
Mrs. Genevieve Jamail Trabulsi
Originally the primary methods of income came from each member's hard work
Donations, bake sales, dinners, evening entertainment, and more.
Even now, all of our events are driven by volunteer work.

Our efforts were noticed and we received recognition from notable dignitaries
We have received letter from mayors, governors, and presidents.
You can view our letters in the Letters from Dignitaries page.

Ever since the beginning our goal was to help other worthy charities and groups.

Our Band of Angels works in loving memory of all the hardworking members who came before us, and in gratitude for their good deeds which inspire us.
"The sole objective of the Club is to help others.
As long as a genuine need is established, the Club has always stood ready to help."
